This was a Heber double rainbow that was pretty striking.
We had a great monsoon season that started in early July. This was a look at a typical storm coming in.
My chickens are having babies. For 20 years I've tried to grow chickens and to no avail. I brought these back last August and Jim hid them under wire so the critters couldn't munch on them. It worked!
The boys first day of school on August 8th. Of course, Dev, didn't want to cooperate for the picture.
My first Arizona tomats!
Tuesday, August 9th we left Heber---headed for the midwest----via Lake Powell. Go figure!
We were lucky to get into the Wahweap RV park that is sitting near the lake. We are situated in our spot but it's very hot....like 95.
View from my chair.
A camp visitor.
After 3 days soaking up the views, we moved on to St. George, Utah to surprise our friend, Greg Smith.
Greg and Carol opened up a second furniture store called the Old Bodega. A beautiful store in the historic Santa Clara district. Greg was a little surprised to see us.
Rattlesnake bites!
Saturday JB and I drove to the Zion National Park. Because we have the National Parks senior pass that cost $10, we entered the park for free. Would have been $25.00. I should add we used the pass to get into the Glen Canyon Recreational Area at Lake Powell and got in free. Saved $15.00. Anyway this is the view entering Zion.
There is a mile long tunnel that was dug out from 1927- 1930. We drove through it with the truck. RV's can go through but they have to restrict the traffic to one lane and costs the driver $15 for the inconvenience. We knew about the tunnel so avoided it with Buzz.
Coming to the end of the tunnel.
Driving your vehicle is very limited in the park, as well as parking. Much of the road is restricted to their sightseeing trolleys. We took that 1 hour tour and learned about the park and the area. All in all, this park was not very exciting compared to Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon. Wouldn't tell anyone to go out of their way to see it.
Sunday, Aug 14th we left St. George and headed towards Ogden, Utah, north of Salt Lake City on our way to West Yellowstone, MT. We stopped at a Flying J for fuel and a nice, young mechanic guy told JB that one of our tires looked a little "funky". So upon further review, it was decided that the two front tires were very worn on the inside. What to do!! Where were my Goodyear brothers when I needed them! So we decided to put new ones on. The price was exorbitant for one! Upon even further review, one of the back dual tires was worse than the front! Oh, lovely!
So we stewed for awhile, I checked the credit card limits and decided it was worth being safe and not ripping up the bottom of the coach with a blowout or two. So we got 6 new Goodyears put on.
So glad I found you all! I'm sure you will enjoy the cooler weather now that you are up north! Enjoy....
