The Pyramids and Tony wins!

As most of you know, Brent is cruising on the Queen Elizabeth and was recently in Egypt. He was very excited about seeing the pyramids.

I wonder how many takes there were before he got the perfect poses. We're excited to hear about all his travels, as he'll be home in a couple of weeks.

And then there was the best NASCAR championship race that I have ever seen on Sunday, November 20th.....not that I've seen very many. Tony came into the last race of the season having won 4 out of the last 9 races and only 3 points behind Carl Edwards. Tony had lots of adversities that he and his team overcame in the race and ended up getting ahead of Carl.....tying him in the points and winning the cup because he had more wins. Wow! What a race it was!

He's the Champ. Have to buy some more new gear!

November 2011 Phoenix NASCAR festivities

The group gathered on Thursday, Nov 10 for the semi-annual NASCAR race in the desert. This time there were more rigs joining the camp, as we were going to have a wedding. Imagine that!

Eight rigs took over alot of space but we needed alot of space for the 100 wedding guests.

Grandpa and Dev getting ready for a little spin.

Craft items were displayed but no sales.

Goodyear poster up for all to see.

Camp is getting a little cluttered but Toni doesn't care.

Decorating time. Scott holding his daughter up so she can attach the lanterns to the rope lights.

Professional photographers getting the overall picture of the festivities.

The fancy candy bar...for all to fill the little boxes with their favorite candies.

Gift table with the rental RV advertisement in the background.

Bubbles, anyone?

A little memento.

Logan getting a good seat early.

Ornery looking Dev being told to SIT. However, he was not there long.

Dave and Bill are getting ready to partake in this blessed event.

The sun was setting about the time the wedding was starting.

Here comes the bride....either she was really walking fast or I was a little shaky.

The first kiss.

Cupcake wedding cake.

The bride.

The Phoenix raceway chaplain is on the right. He did a great job. After all, he's had 50 weddings at PIR. But today was special, as it was 11-11-11.

There was even a band.

I think this was a full moon. What a great day. Everything went off without a hitch. The redneck wedding in the NASCAR camp was an experience. Everyone had a great time. I got to buy a new Tony shirt for the celebration. For good measure, also bought a new Danica #10 shirt.

Our friend Dave resting his eyes.

Logan wore Timmy's hat to the race on Sunday. It was a great race. Sell out crowd, which hasn't been the case for several years. Tony is only a few points behind Carl Edwards so should be a fantastic year end finish in Homestead. Can't wait! Stay tuned for the results.

The 2011 Deer Hunt

We got back home on Oct 19th but not without battling alot of wind. No tire troubles, though. We stayed one night in Heber, transferred a few items and took Buzz down to it's winter home in Apache Junction the next day.

While we were gone for the summer, Dillan got to go on his first ever by himself and papa squirrel hunt. Look at this huge one he got. He can't wait for his mom to cook it! (Ya, right!)

So when we went back up to the mountain, Dev came with us since the gang was going to be coming up on the weekend for the big deer hunt.

The next day we had snow. Guess whose footprints these are.

By morning there was enough to play in.

Then we had to make time for the cookie monster to make cookies.

The deer hunt began on Friday, Oct 28th. The boys got taken out of school for "hunting experience". Logan went with Grandpa and had to rest on this rock.

Not too much action so a little snooze was in order.

They mostly hunted in the burn area.

The gang's favorite place, the glassless coffee table!

The darlings with their new deer camp shirts that I found time to embroider!

Dev with one of his "rests".

The boys had to assist their papa with a tire change prior to their road trip home.

No deer this weekend but Tony won his third Chase race out of 7 at Martinsville. YES!

So JB earnestly continued the pursuit for the big deer all week long. One day when he was hunting we had 3 girl deer in our yard. Kind of funny.

Stan, our Buddy from MN, died Friday night, Nov 4th of lung cancer. We met him and Barb in Arizona at the RV park and instantly became friends. We were even so honored to go to the Talladega infield with them and were lucky enough to be invited back a second time. Wish we would have known him longer. We will miss him.

Back for another long weekend of hunting. They got taken out of school for another Friday.

And guess what? It snowed overnight so here's Logan rummaging through all of the winter stuff.

Dillan all duded up.

Mr. independent Dev only wanted to wear the red knitted mittens, not the nice cozy waterproof ones.

Backyard fun.

One giant dirty snowball. There really wasn't enough snow to get the sleds out, although the kids tried.

This poor Viking has a drippy nose!

Well, the weekend ended and no deer were hanging so the hunt ended with some good and bad weather, sighting of turkey, elk and many girl deer, a newly heard elk call and lots of quiet time in the woods. Oh, and JB and Greg each saw one buck! No meat for the freezer this year.

So Monday morning, we headed for the valley....with it snowing again! What's with this weather? It's Arizona and it's early November.

Pretty treacherous down the mountain. This was taken when I could see out of the windshield. Most of the time the wipers had ice on them and I was stretched up to see out of the top of the windshield. It was lovely, but I had my seat warmer on!

So the deer hunt is over and next up will be the Phoenix NASCAR race. And, oh by the way, Tony won AGAIN Sunday at Texas and is now only 3 points behind in the Chase. Woo-Hoo!
