Winter has come and gone- part 2

The end of January we volunteered again at the 16th hole of the Phoenix Open. The weather was absolutely perfect this year.

These next pics are of one of our trips home to get the mail. I think we had more snow than the midwest!

The NASCAR season started again with Phoenix being the second race of the new year.

Dev got to come out to the track to set up camp without his brothers. Here's a little hide and seek with Grammy. He's hiding in the upper bunk of the toy hauler.

Although Tony didn't win the Phoenix race, he has proceeded to have 2 wins already by the time I'm writing this post and his teammate, Ryan, won the race last week at Bristol. SOOO the Tony flag continues to whip into the wind each week since the season began because each race he's finished ahead of Jeffy-boy!!!:)

This is the second time that we've seen these paper chinese lanterns being lit and ascend into the sky at NASCAR. It seemed liked several camps were lighting them. Pretty awesome. Will probably have to investigate purchasing some for the next race in November.

And then it was time for Dillan to be 8 on March 22nd.

He had a Chili's ice cream and brownie but his mom made him an all candy cake that was enjoyed by his friends a couple nights later.

Another ride out into the desert ended abruptly for our friends, Sandy and John.

On their very first 4 wheel trip with us in their new jeep, they were unlucky enough to pick up this box end wrench. Needless to say, the tire got changed and they did not complete the trip but the rest of us carried on.

One of the on going laughs of the season was the Apache Junction police showing up at our noisy musical events. They were called at least 4 times to end the loud shenanigans going on in the senior citizen RV park. A new tent was put up to hold over 200 people and it had a great sound system that irked the surrounding neighbors. Changes will be made for next season but we aren't in the know as to what the changes will be. You'll have to stay tuned.

In February sometime we decided to try to make some redneck wine glasses, made out of jars and candlesticks. After seeing our friend, Roberta's, we thought they would be fairly easy to make and sell. I added the touch of glass beads to the inside of the candlestick so I'm sure I have the patent on that little embellishment!

Gathering the supplies were sometimes challenging but we ended up making 6 different size glasses and selling over 130! The people went wild for them. Very crazy. The going price around here is $15 each and we're selling them for $6 and $8. Our inventory is now stocked to make some and sell this summer. I'm sure we'll have more ready for next season!

And then there was the Red Solo Cup party on March 25th-the last big event of the season with free steaks, beer and margaritas provided by a local RV dealer who sold several rigs in the park. Must have been giving back.....

If you look closely we have red solo cups on candlesticks, specially made for the event!

Our third annual fondue party was March 28th. We had it on the clubhouse patio, which worked out very well. Close to 40 people had fun going back to the 70's and fonduing to their hearts content! We could have used more fondue pots so the next day I got on ebay and had the winning bid on the one below. Brand new, still in the 1970's box, never been used. Lucky me!

The season has come to a close. We've met many new friends, reunited with many old friends, had some great happy hours, went out to eat numerous times, kept the coupon boxes full, had several successful craft shows and had an all around wonderful season. So back to the mountain we go next week.

Winter has come and gone-part 1

I know it's been an awful long time since I took time to do a post but, man, we have had a very busy winter. Will start off with Brent coming home for Christmas, which was the first time in many moons. He was here for a few weeks and then the crystal blue waters called him back to St. Thomas so he could be a boat captain again.

The boys came over several times to visit, swim and stay overnight in Buzz. Here's a couple great pics of them.

One of the projects for this season was to replace that God forsaken TV in Buzz. It was some off brand and gave JB fits! He finally found the deal he was looking for. Now we have a total of 3 new TV's!

One of our recreational activities continues to be getting out in the desert with the quad--we only have one of the two here in the park.

We brought the boys up to the cabin before Christmas to play in the snow. One of our indoor activities was to make a gingerbread village. We managed to get it all the way back to their home for them to proudly display but guess what dumb dog decided she had to have a few mouthfuls? GRRRR!

This was taken on Thanksgiving Day and was our Christmas card picture for 2011. It wasn't my idea to have Tony also pose......

And all of a sudden it was Christmas.

We usually have to drive around the neighborhood to look at the lights on Christmas Eve. This is a garage that is completely filled with electric trains, villages, animated characters etc. Very cool.

We went up to the cabin for a few days of Christmas break. The guys had to check out the treehouse but Dev forgot how to climb down by himself.

Sometime in December we both got new iPhones so all these pics were taken with that gadget. What alot to learn but it is absolutely amazing what it will do. Everyone should have one!
